Maia has a plan for becoming somebody in Los Angeles, and the return of her impulsive friend Tallulah gives her an opportunity to turn that ambition into a job. Managing a friend, however, means attaching money and public attention to a relationship already loaded with history. Around them, a small circle negotiates careers, status and the uneasy distance between an online persona and a private life. Tallulah's relationship with chef Tessa brings that tension into focus when her dating life becomes part of her marketable image. Their romance is a substantial strand in an ensemble comedy about people trying to control how the world sees them.
