Annalise Keating has built a formidable career teaching law and defending clients whose cases rarely remain inside the courtroom. When ambitious students enter her professional orbit, their drive to succeed draws them into secrets that threaten their futures and hers. Legal strategy becomes inseparable from loyalty, guilt and the stories people tell to protect themselves. Annalise’s personal life is equally complicated: her history with fellow lawyer Eve Rothlo resurfaces as the series explores grief, intimacy and the costs of concealment. Their connection adds an important strand to a thriller centred on a woman whose authority often conceals deep vulnerability throughout the series.
