Teenage twins Tegan and Sara Quin are growing up close together while beginning to discover how different their inner lives can be. Against a backdrop of 1990s Calgary, new friendships and first attractions shift the balance of their relationship, making the person who knows them best unexpectedly difficult to understand. Music offers another way to express feelings neither can easily explain. Adapted from the musicians’ memoir, the series follows queer adolescence through parallel perspectives, giving the sisters’ search for identity and connection the same emotional importance as the beginnings of their creative partnership.
