Charlie and Nick’s growing affection sits at the center of a school friendship group learning how to name its feelings and care for one another. Alongside their romance, Tara and Darcy navigate being visible as a couple, uneven family support and the practical challenges of growing up together. Their relationship develops across all three television seasons, with the third also making space for Darcy’s understanding of themself as nonbinary. Warm humor and everyday school life share space with anxiety, difficult conversations and changing boundaries. Tara and Darcy provide a substantial sapphic thread within an ensemble whose experiences cannot be reduced to one kind of queer relationship.
