Sara is an accomplished veterinarian who can deal with a difficult animal more easily than a difficult conversation with her parents. At forty, she still has not told them she is gay, and her friends decide that the avoidance has gone on long enough. Their well-intentioned intervention creates a deadline for a change Sara has spent years postponing. Meanwhile, an attraction to Eve and the reappearance of a former girlfriend make keeping her private life compartmentalized increasingly impractical. The British sitcom builds its comedy around a lesbian woman’s friendships, fears and romantic possibilities, asking what happens when being competent at work stops providing cover for everything else.
