A botched kidnapping connects a wealthy New York family, a criminal operation and an investigator determined to untangle what everyone is hiding. Mel Harmony’s abrasive approach to the case also spills into her private life, where her relationship with Carol is breaking down. Her sexuality is an established part of a complicated central character, rather than a reveal or a decorative background detail. The relationship material is concentrated in the opening episodes of the limited series and includes troubling behaviour. This is a tense crime drama with a sapphic protagonist, not a romance-led recommendation.
