Juliette Fairmont is approaching a milestone her powerful vampire family considers essential: her first kill. Calliope Burns is facing a parallel expectation in a family devoted to hunting monsters. When the two teenagers meet, attraction makes their inherited loyalties much harder to follow. What should be a straightforward confrontation becomes a romance neither household is prepared to welcome, drawing friends and relatives into the fallout. The series combines supernatural danger, family conflict and the messiness of first love, with Juliette and Calliope's relationship at the centre of its eight-episode story. Their connection is explicitly romantic; the vampire-and-hunter premise creates the obstacles around the couple rather than replacing their love story.
