A teenager discovers that the woman who raised her abducted her as a child, forcing her to rebuild her understanding of family and belonging. Around Carter, her friends are also making difficult choices about intimacy and trust. In the second season, Bird’s connection with Madison grows into a relationship as Madison deals with rejection at home. Their story is one part of the wider teen ensemble, with a clearly bounded run rather than a romance that continues through the entire series.
