Bloom arrives at Alfea, a boarding school where young fairies learn to control powers that can be difficult to understand and dangerous to misuse. Sharing a room brings her into a circle of students with different abilities, backgrounds and reasons to keep secrets. Lessons and friendships unfold under the pressure of threats beyond the school's boundaries and uncertainty about the people in charge. Among Bloom's friends, Terra is learning how to speak honestly about herself as well as stand up for others. Her second-season coming-out and connection with Kat give that growth a romantic dimension. The fantasy drama follows young people trying to define themselves amid inherited rules and extraordinary expectations.
