Three women living in Hong Kong become connected by an event that changes the shape of their lives. Mercy, a young American struggling with guilt and uncertainty, moves between people who offer very different versions of escape. Her relationship with Charly brings warmth and the possibility of genuine affection, while also exposing how much she cannot bring herself to say. Their sapphic story is woven through the later episodes of this limited series. It is one strand in a drama about grief, privilege and belonging, rather than the sole romantic focus or a promise of uncomplicated reconciliation.
