Nicholas unexpectedly becomes responsible for his teenage half-sisters after their father’s death, leaving three people who barely know how to manage themselves to build a family together. Grief sits alongside absurd humour, school pressures and the uneven business of growing up. Matilda, an autistic musician, is discovering what intimacy and independence mean on her own terms. Her relationship with Drea becomes a sustained exploration of affection, asexuality, sexual curiosity and the difference between loving someone and fitting an expected relationship model. As the household negotiates its new shape, Matilda and Drea also work out how to describe—and protect—the bond they share.
