Rue Bennett navigates addiction, grief and unstable relationships while the people around her search for identity, intimacy and control. Her connection with Jules Vaughn becomes a defining emotional relationship, shaped by attraction, dependence and the difficulty of being honest about what each needs. The wider ensemble follows other young people whose choices overlap with theirs. Rue and Jules supply a central sapphic thread in an adult drama that also deals with sexuality, violence and substance use.
