Albert Square is a small place for people with complicated histories. Families live close together, secrets travel quickly and decisions made behind one front door can transform the whole neighbourhood. Among the continuing stories is the relationship between Suki Panesar-Unwin and Eve Panesar-Unwin, whose romance and marriage are entwined with family loyalties, public acceptance and the possibility of building a shared future. Their partnership occupies a substantial place within the wider Walford ensemble. Other residents bring their own loves, losses and disputes into the square, creating a soap where a hard-won moment of happiness can exist alongside an entirely different crisis just a few doors away.
