Fatou would often rather disappear into a daydream than face the expectations gathering around her final school years. Family, friends and academic pressure make it hard to keep up, and her feelings for Kieu My seem like another possibility that belongs at a safe distance. Then Kieu My begins moving closer, leaving Fatou to decide whether the future she has imagined could become something real. The sixth season follows that romance alongside the less visible difficulties affecting Fatou’s everyday life. Within the German adaptation’s changing ensemble, her story makes queer first love central without pretending that attraction immediately resolves uncertainty, communication or the fear of being misunderstood.
