The immaculate houses of Wisteria Lane hide a seemingly endless supply of secrets, rivalries and disastrous romantic decisions. In season six, Robin Gallagher’s arrival gives Katherine Mayfair an unexpected chance to question what she wants from intimacy. Their friendship turns romantic as Katherine wrestles with attraction to a woman and with the neighbours’ interest in her private life. The storyline forms a short but developed arc within the long-running ensemble soap. Its sapphic scope is the middle of season six, rather than Katherine’s complete history or the series as a whole, and later appearances should be assessed separately.
