A lottery win gives Alison Braithwaite the chance to change her family’s life, but money does little to simplify its competing secrets and desires. Her eldest daughter Virginia is trying to establish an adult life of her own, including relationships with women that repeatedly disrupt the family’s expectations. Tamsin and Megan become important parts of that journey. Virginia’s romantic choices, messy loyalties and place within the household provide a sustained lesbian storyline across the four series of this Yorkshire family comedy drama.
