Five friends reunite after years of discovering that adult life has not followed the plans they once made together. Work, money and the expectations of other people have changed their circumstances, but familiar patterns return as soon as they are in the same room. Lica’s romantic history with Samantha is part of that unfinished business, connecting the person she was at school with the woman she is still trying to become. The Brazilian drama gives her sapphic identity an ongoing place within a friendship ensemble rather than treating an earlier romance as a closed chapter. Growing up means revisiting old loyalties while making decisions that the group cannot make on anyone’s behalf.
