In the divided cities of Piltover and Zaun, technological ambition and entrenched inequality push families, friends and political rivals toward conflict. Vi's search for the sister she lost brings her into contact with Caitlyn, an enforcer whose privileged upbringing has not prepared her for life across the divide. Working together challenges their assumptions and creates a connection complicated by class, loyalty and violence. Their attraction becomes an explicit romance in the second season, within an animated ensemble drama that also follows the consequences of power and invention. Vi and Caitlyn are major characters with their own stakes in the wider struggle; their relationship is an important continuing story rather than the series' only focus.
