A failed robbery turns an apartment viewing into a hostage situation, bringing together strangers who seem to have little in common beyond their bad day. When the police finally enter, the person responsible has disappeared. Interviews with the witnesses produce conflicting accounts, unexpected connections and a growing sense that the apparent crime is only one part of the story. Adapted from Fredrik Backman's novel, the Swedish miniseries uses its mystery to explore loneliness, shame, kindness and the difficulty of asking for help. Among the prospective buyers are Julia and Ro, an established couple facing parenthood whose shared history receives particular attention in the fourth episode.
