Rosa works among the lakes and waterways outside Berlin, living by rhythms very different from those of her lover Kirsten, an architect whose professional life rarely leaves her alone. A weekend together ought to offer a respite, but the arrival of two younger women, Evi and Olivia, changes the atmosphere. Conversation and flirtation expose differences of age, confidence, money and expectation that the landscape cannot smooth away. As the four women spend time beside the water, their assumptions about one another become less secure, and attraction brings existing tensions closer to the surface. Zoltan Paul’s drama observes a brief encounter in a seemingly idyllic setting, where the question of who belongs with whom proves less settled than anyone first admits.
