Three encounters reveal how an unexpected conversation can redirect the stories people tell about themselves. A woman discovers an uncomfortable connection between her friend’s new romance and her own past; an attempted seduction becomes something neither participant expected; and a reunion that appears to promise recognition takes a different turn. In the final story, Natsuko’s return to her old school leads to a meeting with Aya, whom she believes she once knew. The mistake creates room for feelings about a lost relationship to be spoken aloud. Across these separate narratives, coincidence opens a space between what happened and what might have happened, allowing strangers and former intimates to briefly imagine another way of living.
