Alex tells her parents that she is gay, hoping for a response that allows her to remain part of her own family. Instead, their fear leads them to place her with people determined to change her sexuality. Far from home and subjected to coercive treatment, she must find ways to protect herself within a situation adults have arranged in her name. Access to school creates a narrow opening toward allies and the possibility of outside help. Based on Alex Cooper's experience, this television film centres a lesbian teenager's effort to regain control of her life. Its story follows both the damage caused by conversion practices and the persistence needed to recognise that the beliefs being used against her do not define what she deserves.
