Charlie has spent a year searching for her missing daughter in a Georgia town where silence offers little comfort. Her relationship with Angela is breaking under the strain, and drinking has become an unreliable escape from grief. When another girl disappears, Charlie sees a connection she cannot ignore. Joining forces with journalist Amy, she begins to investigate people whose influence has long shaped the community. The search brings new information but also threatens the fragile account of events Charlie has used to keep going. As suspicion spreads, she must face the possibility that finding answers will require confronting truths about herself. The thriller centres a lesbian mother whose determination to protect others is inseparable from her own unresolved loss.
