The teenagers arriving at Whistler Camp are told that the programme can help them become different people. Behind the welcoming manner of its staff, the conversion-therapy retreat subjects them to manipulation and demands that they distrust their own identities. Kim, a closeted lesbian, and Veronica, a bisexual camper, find connection within a group learning to recognize how the camp operates. Their developing relationship forms part of the friendships and solidarities that sustain the young people. When a masked killer appears, the isolation takes on another threat. John Logan’s ensemble horror combines the danger of the retreat with a slasher story, keeping queer companionship visible within its hostile setting.
