Emma and Josie are newly married when illness places an urgent limit on the future they expected to share. Emma responds with an unusual request: she wants Josie to find another partner while she can still have a say in the choice. Josie's reluctant attempts at dating produce embarrassment and unexpected feeling, especially when she begins spending time with Siobhan, a florist whose company becomes increasingly important. The arrangement makes it impossible to separate loyalty to the present from the possibility of a future. This romantic comedy follows three women negotiating a situation for which none of them has a reliable script. Beneath its awkward dates and humour, the story asks how love changes when caring for someone includes wishes that are difficult to understand or fulfil.
