Joan Jett wants to make loud music in a world that has little interest in giving teenage girls the stage. Cherie Currie brings a different kind of ambition and vulnerability to the band taking shape around her. Together they become the most visible faces of the Runaways, navigating rehearsals, touring and the attention of adults who see commercial possibilities in their rebellion. Their charged connection unfolds alongside the pressures of performance, drugs and exploitation. Floria Sigismondi's drama follows the band's breakthrough through its two young leads, with their attraction forming part of a complicated struggle over identity and control.
