Several families become entangled as adults and teenagers search for versions of happiness that do not always fit together. Within this wider story, Yvetta and Sylva have built a household whose stability is challenged when questions about biological parenthood and the past come into the open. What the adults have chosen to explain, conceal or take for granted carries consequences for the children as well as for their relationship. Around them, other parents struggle with control, fear and the wish to protect people who want to make their own decisions. This Czech ensemble drama gives a substantial place to a family headed by two women, exploring the pressures on their bond and the unequal authority attached to different forms of parenthood.
