Savarna Sikand has built a life around her work and her relationship, but her family has an unexpected plan for her future. Learning that they may be the final descendants of an ancient spiritual lineage, her relatives decide that continuing the bloodline must become her responsibility. For Savarna, who is openly gay and uncertain about parenthood, their announcement turns a personal decision into a family campaign. Her relationship with Charley becomes entangled with questions neither tradition nor professional expertise can answer for her. Well-intentioned interference produces comic complications as competing ideas of duty collide. The story follows Savarna’s effort to respect the people who raised her while insisting that the shape of her family must remain hers to choose.
