For Qe, Jeta, and Li, friendship makes life in a small Kosovan community bearable, but it cannot make the future arrive any faster. They spend their days together, restless for opportunities that seem to exist somewhere else. When their hopes of leaving through education falter, the three friends decide to seize a different kind of freedom. Their rebellion brings exhilaration, money, and growing danger, while the closeness between Jeta and Qe takes on an intimate new meaning. What begins as solidarity becomes a test of how much each young woman is prepared to risk. Against the apparent calm of the landscape, their anger and affection expose the limits of the lives they have been expected to accept.
