Beth has remained close to the family home while her siblings have moved into lives elsewhere, and the death of one of her mothers has made moving forward feel like a betrayal. When the family gathers again, familiar tensions and the return of her former girlfriend Lauren bring unfinished feelings to the surface. Then Beth discovers a way to revisit the past through the landscape around the house. The possibility of seeing her mother alive makes memory seem more inviting than the difficult people waiting for her in the present. As these visits grow more consuming, Beth must confront what she is asking of the past and what her attachment to it is costing the relationships she can still change.
