Recovering from severe injuries, Lisbeth Salander faces a trial that could once again place control of her life in other people's hands. Mikael Blomkvist investigates the institutions protecting the men responsible for her persecution, while her lawyer works to make her account heard. The final Swedish Millennium film follows its bisexual protagonist through a confrontation with the official history constructed around her. The story centres testimony, evidence and the difficult work of reclaiming agency rather than a new romance. Lisbeth's survival depends on allies acting outside the systems that failed her, and on her own refusal to accept the role those systems have assigned.
