Laura Hollis and Carmilla Karnstein have made a life together after the extraordinary events that first brought them into each other’s orbit. Carmilla’s adjustment to being human seems to promise a less dangerous future, until unsettling dreams and returning supernatural symptoms disturb that possibility. Searching for answers takes the couple to an old estate where Carmilla’s past is far from finished with her. Friends and unfamiliar guests become part of a mystery that threatens the ordinary life Laura and Carmilla have worked to build. Combining a haunted-house adventure with the emotional history of an established couple, the film asks how two women can protect their future when unresolved parts of the past begin demanding their attention.
