Carrie and Hannah attend the funeral of a former Hebrew school classmate, entering a day intended to help their community understand grief. Hannah is more interested in her own crush and persuades Carrie to practise kissing with her. For Carrie, the encounter changes the meaning of a friendship that had seemed settled. While the adults offer a structured conversation about loss and faith, the teenagers negotiate status, embarrassment, and competing needs with far less care. Carrie’s new feelings leave her exposed to a friend who may not recognise what she has set in motion. The dark comedy follows a small gathering in which the wish to connect is repeatedly complicated by the difficulty of seeing beyond oneself.
