Spending the summer on Cape Cod in 1985, Lily finds an unexpected companion in Mesa, a girl whose reserve makes every shared moment feel slightly mysterious. Bicycle rides and unhurried conversations carry them through days that seem temporarily removed from the demands of ordinary life. As they become more comfortable together, curiosity develops into feelings neither can easily explain. The landscape gives their friendship room to grow, but closeness also introduces the vulnerability of wanting to be known. Rather than rushing toward certainty, the film stays with the hesitations and small gestures of an emerging attachment. Their summer becomes a first encounter with the possibility that another person can change how familiar places, and their own futures, appear.
