Returning to the small American town where she spent part of her childhood, Tyler faces a final school year in a place that feels both familiar and strange. She arrives from England with her mother and little certainty about where she belongs. Rose remembers the girl Tyler used to be, and their renewed acquaintance provides a way into a life Tyler has not yet learned how to inhabit. Shared memories give way to new conversations, hesitant attention, and the possibility of feelings neither can dismiss. As the two grow closer, Tyler must work out what returning really means. Their relationship unfolds through the awkwardness and anticipation of being young, uncertain, and newly visible to another person.
