Alexis experiences sound as something more physical and overwhelming than most people can imagine. A traumatic childhood discovery has linked what she hears with vivid sensations, and she grows determined to turn that experience into music. Her experiments gradually move beyond unconventional instruments toward an increasingly dangerous pursuit of the perfect composition. At the same time, her attachment to her roommate Marie offers an emotional connection she struggles to understand and sustain. As artistic ambition becomes obsession, Alexis’s private logic carries her farther from the people around her. This horror story places her desire for connection alongside her compulsive creativity, tracing the point at which an attempt to communicate becomes a threat to others.
