Júlia’s long relationship with Antônia has ended, leaving her unable to imagine ordinary life without the person who once organized it. Teaching English literature gives her routines to follow, but familiar places and conversations keep returning her to what she has lost. Moving into a house with friends creates a different arrangement, bringing other forms of grief, companionship and desire into her days. Helena’s presence offers the possibility of a connection that does not begin with the same history, though Júlia is not ready to treat recovery as a straightforward replacement. Malu de Martino’s drama follows a woman learning to inhabit her life again, asking how affection can reach someone who remains attached to an absence.
