Rose has made a settled life by the lake, surrounded by the routines and family relationships that give the present its familiar shape. When an old roll of film is developed, the photographs bring back a summer she has kept largely to herself. The younger Rose was married when she met Louise, another woman whose confidence and curiosity opened possibilities she had not imagined. As those memories return, visits from her daughter and granddaughter place the past alongside the changing lives of a new generation. Melanie Mayron’s drama moves between these periods to explore the affection, secrecy and difficult choices that can remain inside a family story long after the people around it believe they understand how that story began.
