Remy & Arletta

Remy depends on her friendship with Arletta to make a difficult home life bearable. Her mother’s drinking and controlling religious expectations leave little room for her own needs, while Arletta offers closeness and a sense of escape. As the girls’ attachment becomes more intense, Remy begins to understand that the relationship means more than the familiar label of best friends can contain. That discovery does not automatically make dependence healthy or freedom straightforward. The film follows two young women whose bond provides comfort while carrying pressures neither has fully named. An intimate coming-of-age drama about desire, emotional survival and the complicated work of finding an identity beyond the people one relies on.
