Research scientist Pillar receives an extraordinary honour she never asked for: selection for a mission to colonise Mars. The opportunity is compulsory, and leaving Earth would mean abandoning the relationships and ordinary choices that make her life her own. While she searches for a way out, the approaching departure changes every interaction with family and friends. Her partner Arrow is involved in opposition to the colonisation programme, giving their relationship an additional tension between personal fear and public resistance. Set largely among familiar spaces rather than distant planets, the drama considers the human cost of a supposedly visionary project. Pillar’s final days at home become a struggle to retain agency in a future that others have already decided for her.
