Elsie is skilled at ending relationships before she has to confront what keeping one might require. After separating from Robyn, she accepts a challenge from friends to spend some time single. Toronto’s interconnected queer social world makes that resolution difficult, especially when she meets the engaging Lolli. New possibility competes with the unfinished business of the relationship she has left behind. The romantic comedy follows Elsie’s effort to understand a pattern she has usually treated as proof of independence. Conversations with friends and encounters around the city repeatedly expose the gap between the explanations she gives and the feelings she avoids. Staying unattached may be less difficult than accepting responsibility for what she really wants.
