Lisa takes a job at a vertical farm in a town where her own family’s traditional livelihood has become increasingly precarious. Dalia’s Muslim family owns the business, and the two women initially meet across a divide shaped by money, prejudice and resentment. A confrontation costs Lisa her job, yet it does not end their connection. As they come to know one another, attraction challenges the assumptions each has inherited about the other’s world. Dalia is approaching a wedding, and both women face expectations that make acting on their feelings consequential. Shamim Sarif’s romance follows an unlikely relationship as it tests the lines drawn by class, faith, race and family loyalty.
