After an awkward first sexual experience, Sunny needs emergency contraception and discovers that obtaining it in South Dakota is far more complicated than she expected. Her best friend Lupe joins her on a road trip that quickly turns into a succession of detours, uncomfortable encounters and increasingly urgent decisions. Lupe appears more confident than Sunny, but she is also carrying private worries about attraction, coming out and what her family might accept. A connection with Logan gives those questions an immediate emotional reality. As the friends try to solve Sunny’s practical problem, they discover how much each has kept hidden from the other. Their chaotic journey tests the friendship that gives them both the courage to ask for help.
