Janis and Ana meet in a maternity ward, each preparing to raise a child without a settled partnership. Janis approaches motherhood with confidence, while the younger Ana carries greater uncertainty and less support. Their brief hospital friendship develops into a connection that continues well beyond the births. As their lives become entangled, emotional dependence gives way to attraction, and information that Janis holds privately threatens the trust between them. Alongside this intimate story, Janis pursues the recovery of relatives killed during Spain’s Civil War, linking family identity to a larger history of silence. The women must navigate what it means to care for one another when love, motherhood and the truth do not point toward the same easy choices.
