Uma wakes on an island where an elegant institution promises to transform young women into the people their families want them to be. The surroundings are luxurious, the routines carefully managed and the cost of refusing them increasingly unclear. Among the other residents is Amarna, a pop star whose sexuality has become something her handlers expect the programme to correct. As Uma and the women around her begin to question their treatment, friendship and attraction create possibilities outside the institution's rules. This fantastical thriller follows a group of women confronting different versions of enforced perfection. Its queer ensemble strand is grounded in Amarna's struggle against the control of her identity, within a broader escape story about bodies, obedience and who gets to decide what a woman should become.
