Alex has exhausted her family’s patience and is sent to work at a horse farm in the countryside. The arrangement feels like punishment: unfamiliar routines, physical work and responsibility for animals leave little room for the habits she has used to protect herself. Kathy’s arrival introduces another source of friction, but initial resistance gives way to curiosity and attraction. As the girls spend time together, the farm becomes more than a place Alex has been forced to endure. Caring for the horses offers a different measure of progress from the judgements she knows at home. The film follows a tentative change in perspective, linking first love with the discovery that responsibility can sometimes create possibilities rather than simply close them down.
