During a patron-saint celebration in a Mixtec village in Oaxaca, three returning residents face conflicts that have been waiting for them. María comes home to bury her mother and encounters rejection from her father, but also reconnects with Piedad, the woman she loved in childhood. The possibility of leaving together opens a path beyond the life expected of them. Elsewhere, Esteban discovers that his absence has changed his marriage, while Toña returns to confront harm that threatens another generation. Their stories overlap within a community whose traditions can offer belonging and enforce silence. Across these connected journeys, the film follows people deciding what they owe to home, what they can forgive, and which parts of its rules they can no longer accept.
