Nina returns to Glasgow after her father's death and discovers that the family restaurant is in danger of being sold. Entering a televised curry competition offers a way to protect his legacy, but the kitchen brings her into close collaboration with Lisa, the restaurant's co-owner. Their attraction complicates a homecoming already crowded with family expectations and unfinished disagreements. Pratibha Parmar's romantic comedy follows Nina as she tries to decide which parts of her inheritance she wants to preserve and which rules she is ready to change. Cooking becomes a way to remember her father while beginning a life that feels more honestly her own.
