Yolanda is a diligent student who has learned to keep her ambitions in focus. Mari, a new neighbour and classmate, carries responsibilities that make school only one part of a much more complicated day. Their first encounters are prickly, but a shared routine gradually opens into friendship. Spending time together gives both girls a space away from family expectations and the pressures of their Los Angeles neighbourhood. The closeness also brings feelings neither quite knows how to express, making ordinary moments unexpectedly charged. Aurora Guerrero’s coming-of-age drama follows two young women discovering how deeply another person can matter, while the practical differences between their lives threaten the fragile world they have begun to create together.
