Yuki and Ai have built a life together in Japan, sharing the routines and private understanding of a long relationship. Their plans are suddenly interrupted when Yuki receives a terminal cancer diagnosis. As the couple confronts the practical and emotional demands of illness, they also face a society that does not easily recognise the place each holds in the other’s life. Medical decisions, family expectations and the prospect of separation give ordinary time a new urgency. Ai’s commitment cannot remove the uncertainty ahead, while Yuki must find a way to speak about what she needs and fears. Their story follows the work of staying together when love is enduring, the future is narrowing, and recognition cannot be taken for granted.
